I have been tuning / wrenching / driving cars for about as long as I was able to reach the pedals. Learned to drive manual transmission on my parents' 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass S (basically a 442 without the badge and hidious spoiler), and learned a lot of my early knowledge about engines from helping my father maintain and restore it. My income and need for a daily driven vehicle has limited my own personal ride, but I try to make do with what I have. My girlfriend (and co-driver) Megan also shares my love for spirited driving and is truly my soul mate. We met in 2003 when I relocated back to the central Ohio area and the rest is history. Unfortunately, she fell ill with an unknown gastrointestinal disorder and has been disabled ever since. We do the best we can, and she somehow still wakes up each day with the best outlook on life dispite everything she deals with. She is doing better day by day now and a cross country rally like Bullrun would really be an awesome way to get back to the kind of "unruly" fun we always used to have with our gearhead friends. She lost a very close friend in late 2007 (Chris Schnell 1/4/85 - 8/22/2007; RIP) and it was kind of a wake up call to start doing the things we love to do more often. If Megan isn't well enough to co-drive, Matt Melchiorre will probably take her place (Chris's best friend; its something he would have loved to do...). We'll either be using my MAZDASPEED Protege or Matt's hopped up Toyota Tundra... The current vehicle (2003 MAZDASPEED Protege) is a complete blast to drive through the twisties and really handles more like a RWD sports car during off throttle cornering due to the agressive sway bar setup. I have many aspirations to become more involved on the business end of performance vehicles so all of the current modifications are fabricated myself. Current mods are as follows:
Can't wait to party it up across country with the other contestants and take home the prize money....
Mission Statement:
"Talk does not cook rice" (ancient chinese - I think....) Tired of half assed drivers and high school kids with mommy and daddy's money giving imports a bad name. Our car is built for serious on track performance and is driven seriously by enthusiasts.
About My Team:
We may fight like husband and wife, but when the pressure is on we're both capable of getting the job done and pushing each other to the limit. The car has the right balance of fuel economy and track pedigree (tuned from the factory by Calaway, Racing Beat, and Mazda race engineers) to take us to the podium for Bullrun on Speed TV.
