With the hopes & dreams shared with many others on here, of one day making the cut. I figured I would use this openeing to give everyone a little background on the car I drive. No, it's not a flashy sports car, or a high end Euro, but its mine and its paid off ;)
The car started out as a lease car, was going to be a stock DD, but 16.x in the 1/4 didn;t cut it for long. Got bored and put the 1st cam in it for a W-body event, times dropped to 15.5 full weight. The next year and a half was full of low 15 runs, never could seem to break into the 14s.
M11 (MI GM Event) was fast approaching, and sick of the pile of 15.xx slips, I was just fed up with it.The weekend before the event I ran to a junkyard, and pulled the top end off a 1998 Grand Prix GTP. Few days later we did a crappy tune on it, drove it to M11, and ran a 13.7. Not bad for a Lease car and a $1000 investment.
This fall, the stock trans finally gave out (after 40k of slippage and me raping the piss out of it). Currently the car is undergoing a rebuild. Its getting a fresh L26 block, GenV Eaton M90, and a few other goodies.
It serves as (or did until the trans crapped out this fall) as a DD, driving me to, and from work (all 1 1/2 hours each way). On the weekends she serves as my anger managment, letting me beat the living snot out of it at the track, and driving it home. It has been very reliable, the only repairs to date are the transmission (which was self induced) and a set of wheel bearings.
Like I said before, not the flashiest car ont he site by any means, but sub 13s in the quarter (prior to this build) and still averaging 28 mpg, I can't complain.
Next blog, I'll try to bring you up to speed on where i am with the build.
