Repost of Aaron's Myspace Blog BULLRUN II (SPEED):TEAM SOLSTICE - HARD WORKING and PLAYING EVEN HARDER!! What is it about the Bullrun events that bring so many people from such diverse backgrounds together every year? Think about it for a moment -- do you know what it is? I can't speak for what you think it is. That would be presumptuous of me, but this is what I believe it is. It's the draw to be with like minded people who enjoy life and all that it offers. The cars are just the tools we use to make that magic happen. Bullrunners come together and feed on that special energy like moths to a flame. It is an affirmation of life, a break from our daily routines. For just a short time every year we release that energy across this wonderful countries highways and party in the nicest of hotels! When you are part of a Bullrun event, it helps you understand just why you really work so hard. -We work, so we might play and Bullrunners play harder than most. That is my definition of a Bullrun event and what it means to me. I can only hope that one day, I'll get to be apart of that small group of great people and PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR! The team I am talking about this week is all about enjoying life and family. They work hard in their daily lives and fill my definition of what a Bullrun Team should be. TEAM SOLSTICE - HARD WORKING and PLAYING EVEN HARDER! It's a beautiful sunday morning and there is a strong smell of burning tires hanging in the air. When off in the distance you see a black and red Pontiac Solstice twisting and turning under the bright sun of a Las Vegas morning. The driver is fighting to get back across that finish line and hoping for a good run this time through the orange coned course. Then try looking just beyond the course off towards the finish line. Can you see it? That small family cheering the driver of that Pontiac roadster on to victory. That car isn't just anyones Pontiac Solstice -- its Tony's and Theresa's family SCCA car and that is Team Solstice. They are the husband and wife team we are going to watch this February on the Speed channel. The skills they have refined while competing in autocross events around Nevada these last few years should be put to the test and they are ready to serve them up. Tony and Theresa are real car people that enjoy being behind a cars leather wrapped steering wheel as much as going to Parent/Teacher meetings at the kids school. To them there isn't any difference between the two as long as they do it as a family. This great couple met in '96 and started dating soon after. Then in 1999 they both knew that this was going to be a permeant arrangement and tied the knot. They are now raising two wonderful children that are as fun to be around as the cars they drive. It is easy to see that this is one happy family. As a married couple they know each others hot buttons. Which they might be pushing if one or the other isn't listening. It should make for a good viewing, don't you think? Married couples are so fun to watch. You never know what they are going to do in a stressful moment. When you get married folks mad the fireworks can make the Forth of July seem like an ant farting in the forest. We are all going to be watching just what fireworks Team Solstice might have packed for this race. Who knows what the in-car video has in store for us this season? Tony, Theresa and the kids. Lets get to know just who these two wonderful, fun and happy people are. Starting with Tony who is a manager at a casino in Vegas and helps at the families sign shop when he isn't working on the strip. In his spare time he enjoys being involved in the local car clubs. Tony has been into showing cars for as long as Theresa has known him. He's that guy that gets a toy and just can't enjoy it for what it is... Oh, no it can be made better! Every car he has ever owned he has improved something. (As any good man should.) In fact they started a sign shop to help other people improve the looks of their cars with wraps or one off graphics kits. ( Or did they do it for the vender passes at SEMA? That would not a bad idea come to think of it.) You know without Theresa, Tony would most likey be happy just sitting in that lawn chair at the local show-n- shines. But that didn't happen and now he's a clock racing monster! (Thank You Theresa). Tony is a guy that once he locks his jaw - Its getting done. That is a strength that a person is born with and it can't be learned. In the Bullrun that trait that can make the differance in winning or going home early. I expect Tony to be single minded in his goal of winning this seasons running of the Bulls and with his wife supporting that goal. I'd place your bet before this table is closed! Now Theresa has been raised a little differently. You see Theresa knows how a car should be used. She was going to introduced Tony to a completely different type of automotive fun. Not that car shows don't have their place. It is just cars should be driven to really be enjoyed. Car shows are never going to be the same for him after she was done opening his eyes to hard driving. You see Theresa was carted all around Nevada to see incredible feats of horse-power and nitro burning fun! She came into this world with a passion for off road racing ,street and track events. Her parents took this sweet little girl and her siblings to all the Mint 400's and SNORE races around Vegas. For even more family fun. Her Mother and Father fled into the desert to play on quads and three wheelers almost every weekend! Theresa wanted to share with Tony (her loving husband) a little of what she enjoyed as a girl growing up. So she decided to take him to an autocross event a few years back and that was it. He was hooked. (NOTE: Anyone who has never attended an autocross event should! It is a fantastic form of auto racing. Autocrossers are some of the nicest racers I have ever met. They might even let you ride along with them. It isn't hard to get involved just ask anyone who is apart of Auto-crossing) Theresa is a natural leader and enjoys running the family company (www. asapdigitalimaging. com & www. asap-signs. com). She is thinking about getting back into casino management in addition to the sign shop. (If you have ever worked in a casino you know that your never really out.. They have a way of pulling you back in. So I bet she's going to make the right choice. Huh, TONY) Theresa in Denver at some type of staduim. This family is a very hard working one. Still, they don't let all those hours trying to get ahead interfere with being a loving family. They manage find some time for everyone in the family. There is only "one" thing that can stop this family in it's tracks. It is Theresa's love of football. It is a sickness that has disabled her life and those she loves during the fall season each year. For many years it has paralyzed them on sundays and there isn't any hope of a cure. You see they can't do anything that would disrupt the "Football gods" while a game is on, Dinners even have to be scheduled around Bronco games. I understand her illness. My families world can only start turning again once the Raiders have removed the Denver Bronco's from the face of the earth. Mike Shanahans firing is a great start. (Sorry, Theresa I'm a Raider fan and can't say that other teams name without talking about the greatest football team ever! I bleed Silver and Black so you understand why I can't say anything nice about your team. Truce?) Lets get back on subject of Theresa and Tony. Being truly happy is something you can't fake and people enjoy being around this couple because they are happy. When they spend time with the Solstice club in Las Vegas they bring that special energy out in the others who attend the events with them. This is type of energy is what I expect to see from Team Solstice this season. When they get that green flag to run this race this year. I don't think we are going to see any team happier to be apart of this event than them. Maybe some teams will be a little bouncer, but none will enjoy being apart of the adventure more than these two. A laughing, kissing and smiling couple might show up to race. Or it could be the naughty, nasty and scrappy couple clawing its way through the pack of other drivers. I can't wait to see which one of them shows up. Maybe we might get to see a little of each one..... Whatever happens Team Solstice is going to have a larger group of people cheering them on this time. I can just see the kids going wild on the living room floor as Mom and Dad rip up the roads. Theresa is a beautiful lady and well I can't say the same thing for Tony. I hope he understands. Why. It's just a man thing.. you know - you don't tell a guy that stuff. But I can honestly say they are one team that I will be whooping it up for this season! Really - I can't wait to see just what Team Solstice brings to the Bullrun roads. It is bound to be a blast seeing them twisting and turning in that sweeet ass Pontiac Solstice this season! FEBRUARY 2009 -LETS GET IT ON! AARON & MISTER HAPPY!
