you"ll go down quickly. It seems logical to say all on your own, but if you team up early on, you can help eachother navigate and get farther into the game and face off later.

Burnz I agree that you are all for yourself, as were me and Steve but you have to accept that odds are you aren't gonna win every leg so ultimately you are looking out for yourself if you befriend other teams and make alliances so hopefully those teams won't throw you in a challenge if they win... then stab 'em in the back later before they do it to you.

I see all your points. But befreinding other and joining an alliance is 2 different things. My co driver is a very good navigator, but I think the challenges will be our strong points. I guess time will tell. But hell, I like having enemies. it is the fuel to my fire, my desire to conquer. Hmmmmmmm I think that would be a good hook line in a song. I guess now I will have grab my Bass or my 6string and write the rest.

Either way Team CKZ will stand out and the others will try to nail us down.

Do you wanna be the "Evo" of S4? JMO, but keeping to yourself would probably give the other people a dim view of you and make it a lot easier for them to toss you into a challenge. especially if the 1st place winner has to make a choice on who goes in the challenge and they have to pick between you and people they have an alliance with.

Challenges might be a strong point, but who's to say you wont face two competitors that will smoke the challenge? Look at the last episode of season 2. If you just went by the numbers, the vette and gt500 should have come in first and 2nd

i just figure there is gonna be people you like and then people you dont like.  there is gonna be cars you like and cars that you dont like.

Now I ain't a douchebag, I don't think I am the everything of driving. I definatly don't have an Evo ego, beleive you me I will almost garuantee I don't keep to myself, but I have feeling that reguardless of what happens I will get thrown in. Thats why when I am out driving I find my own challenges that I keep my skills honed. I am not I dink, but I do like a little contriversy.

With out contriversy what fun is anything.  There is always someone better than me. That the team I am gonna watch and learn from.

Back in my home town oval track days. All the others racers had an alliance, and believe me, we always got the short end of the stick. I have learnt that all you can do is take it as it comes. You win some, you lose some. I have never placed 1st, in anything, but I go out there and give it the best I can.

To clarify, If rules were followed I would have had some first place finishes.  It is all about the experiance and what you can learn.

Exactly.. Anyone can have a bad day. And when you have that bad day, it's better to have friends than enemies.

I think everyone knows the strategy is to look out for #1. But, you've got to have folks around you if you don't make #1 that day. If you play the game right, you don't have to win every single leg to stay in the competition. You may be able to out-drive everyone on the show, but you never know if they will throw something at you that you arn't expecting. Look at Marco from season II. While everyone has made from of him in one way or another, anyone that has said anything about him has said that he was one hell of a great driver.. In 1 incredible car.

So, argueably one of the best drivers in season 2 in one of the best cars was out of the competition after 2-3 shows.

I'd make alliances.. I just wouldn't make them with douchbags. :)

See, thats the thing about this competition.. I would go into expecting to get screwed eventually. But, a strong alliance would help extend the time out before you get screwed. Or, if you did the screwing.

It's winner takes all.. I think everyone knows that. But, would you rather get down to the final 5 and find out that the other 4 have decided to team up against you? Would it put more pressure on you to know that no matter what, at the end of the day, if you ain't first you're going into the challenge? No matter what? See, that would totally change my approach to the game knowing that.. I'd rather that comes when I'm 1 of the final 3, not 1 of the final 10.

 

I've said this before and I'll say it again: I'd rather beat someone at their best vs if or when they break. I don't think I'd stop for just anyone on the way to the check point, but once we made it to the next checkpoint.. If I thought I could help anyone by turning wrenches or donating parts, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I want to win, but the competitor in me wants to win a fair fight.

I sure there are going to be optortunities that will present themselves advantageous.

I guess it really comes down to who your competition is as well. You may verywell hate every last one them.

Hrm. Let's see. Ok. As it pertains to partying. I used to race a lot. Not so much anymore. When I was competing, I NEVER stayed out late and went out partying. Race day is game day and I take game day seriously. Once a year Dan and I go to Vegas for SEMA to schmooze with sponsors. I NEVER stay out late except for the last night because we have to get up at 7 am and walk the 7 miles of halls as many times as we can per day and I hate feeling like sh!t when I have stuff to do all day. IMO, I am there to do business and rep my team and company. Generally, that's how I operate.

NOW, a lot of times Dan and I find ourselves being 2 of the few who do as stated above. Unfortunatley, it has been my experience that sometimes a lot of people aren't about business. In hind sight for some of the things I have been involved with, such as SEMA for example, I wish I hadn't been such a stiff because as it turned out, the people who partied with the sponsors.....usually became part of the "boys club" or the "in crowd", for lack of better words, and get a lot farther with sponsorship deals than myself who took it a little more seriously and went to bed early so I can wake up early and be professional and on point.

It's a crap shoot. Seriousness may pay off for you, partying may pay off for you. It just all depends on who you encounter and the type marketing manager they are.

I think its important to size up the competition, and in the spirit of the rally run for yourself, but like its been said, there are going to be times when you will need a little help and you dont want to burn all your bridges too early.

Agreed. It is quite amazing how little things can make a big difference.  Not say that I won'tbe hanging out with the others, just won't be partying. Wwell I say that now, but every once and a while I do indulge in a beer or 2, which cause i am a light weight thats enough for me to be a wild man. Ya ya ya, I know I admit it, 2 beers gets me pretty corked.

So who knows what will actually happen. Game face or dumb ass, I guess i will have to wait and see. However my team mate is complete straight edge, Doesn't drink, smoke the weed or ciggarettes.

 All interesting strategies and it depends I guess how confident you are in your car, driving and navigator as to how friendly you are with other teams..

That said only one episode is about winning, episode 10, all the rest are about survival..those Evo boys crashed their car as the pressure of being in challenge after challenge finally got to them...amongst other obvious reasons! They actually got over confident.

I dunno. I'm all about competition (I can't describe how much I hate losing or being wrong.. I've been going at a 6 day argument in one of my courses right now.. and I'm not fucking wrong damnit!!!) Anyway, competition is a GOOD thing. When you're at your best, I'm at mine. When you're at an okay level, I'm not sure I'm at my best.. I need someone to push me to find those limits. The heat of competition makes me ever more competative, as long as the competition is at the same level.

That said, at the end of the day.. I can give everything and leave everything on the field. I'd rather have a beer at the end of the day then another arguement. If you beat me, I'll buy you a beer at the end of the day.. I just want to sit down, relax, and enjoy the company. If you can't handle the fact that I beat you, oh well. I'll still buy you a beer at the end of the day, but I'd rather hear someone gloat than hear them bitch.. I can handle a bad winner, I can't stand a bad loser.
