TeamGTO: The beginning.

This is a blog I guess about what the hell brought me here to Bullrun.

I am sure most of you guys on here watched my video, But I bought my car on October 18th, 2006, or shall I say I sent my wife on her birthday up to Columbus Ohio to buy this car, with a handful of cash.  To this day, I haven't lived it down.  A few months later, I had already began to modify it.  The first thing I had done was bought the Flowmaster American Thunder Catback exhaust.. and granted it sounded good, it was still meh..  OK on power.

Then a good friend of mine at work, was talking about this show, Bullrun.  So, I go home and pick up like the 4th Episode, I believe it was the legs through Northern CA, Vallejo, San Fran, back up to Nevada..  and basically that is where I lived for the biggest part of my Adult life, being stationed at Travis AFB California.  I was hooked from then on. I talked to Stacey, the guy who started this whole thing, and he agreed to be my codriver at the time.  And after watching the Alsops' pull out the victory, I was more hyped than ever because he was basically running the same engine I have, with the exception of heads and stuff.. so it was on.  I began modding the Goat like crazy, got a New Era Cold air intake from a friend, the JBA Mid pipes were installed, and a SLP Shifter for the Fbody's that I got a good deal was installed, and I picked up a Predator tuner.. and tuned the thing myself with the custom settings.  Took it to the track and managed to pull down a 13.4 in the 1/4 with a !@#$ty 2.0 short time.

"Bullwait"

Holy cow, all of us got busy, Casting is gonna be coming soon!!  I build the webfront for "TeamGTO" Hell I even set up a photoshoot for the webpage, and got some KILLER shots of the Goat.  Trying to get my car noticed by Andy Duncan and his Bullrun staff, also turned the heads of General Motors as well.  I posted a few photos from the photoshoot on PontiacUndergeround.com and a few days later the Editor of Pontiac Performance Magazine got in touch, and my story was published in the Magazine!! How friggin COOL is that?!?!?   Well as we were waiting we kept hearing, next month, well, 3 months, naahhh gonna be in the fall..  well, I guess it was a good thing, it gave us all time.   I continued modifying the Goat, now this time for real.  I bought a Comp Cams, custom grind cam, some new springs, pushrods, and installed it.  Also picked up some long tube headers, and new mid pipes.. up graded the shifter to a Billet Pro Series short throw shifter, and now for the most part the Goat is complete.

All the daydreaming really got me going, This car would be Perfect for a rally of this type.. great power, comfortable seats, decent gas milage.

Well, I did manage to run into a Rally, allbeit 1 day in the rain in the Great North east.  The New England Rally's Fall run.  I found myself up in Chicopee Masschusetts, hooked up with Sean.

It wasn't quite Bullrun, but, man it was a blast, despite all the Effin rain.  I swear i never saw soooo much rain in one friggin day. But Sean, and everyone up there were wicked cool!  Seriously some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life.  Unfortunately my clutch kept me from running in the spring run, after all I had to baby it back home 850 miles back to Beav'rcreek.

Fast forward a bit, Stacey ended up starting college and lost all interest as did most of the normal people, and the freaks like me sat in front of the computer growing man tits waiting on Bullrun.  Well, as we all know, it finally happened, and I ended up with a new Co-Driver, Mike Pirnia, who is also my Tuner, and good friend too.

We didn't make it into Season 2, but we aren't done yet.  I have a few more projects that I will blog up later.  There is still alot of hope and fight in us, and I am sure you all will be seeing plenty of us in the future of Bullrun.   Hell who knows, like all of you, hoping to get in season 3 now, may be sitting across from each other at the starting line.

I am not much of a blogger, but hell, might as well try right.

A few photos of the progress of the goat...

You better bring that beast

You better bring that beast back up here for another run Scott. See if you can make the TOD run with us in May or the August run this year. I'd love to run with you again.

Definately

Still trying to save up some money, Things have been really tight this year... even more than last year.   TOD isn't that far from me here I think maybe only 7 hours or so..  We'll have to see,  I'll be back up in Mass in April...  soo maybe we can get some spring run action in ontop of the TOD??    Depending on when season 3 casts, but I'll shoot for august too..

headers?

Did you have to mod the car or did your headers just slip in? Can't see if you x-piped the rear?

Exhaust

Aaron, there is a X pipe a little further back.. and I didn't have to mod anything to get the headers in there, just a lot of work to move things out of the way...

had to drop the steering rack, disconnect the knuckle and power steering lines...  and it was a beeyotch coming back together!!  but we managed to do it in about 4 hours from start to finish..

the passenger side just fell in there..  not so lucky for the drivers side.
