Shouls SUVS Disappear or should they stay
Thu, 09/10/2009 - 9:12pm
I was talking to some friends this week about the future of full size SUVS should they be replaced for a crossover or should they stay. My discussion with them was that there is some thing that a SUV can do that a cross over cant. For example in long distance trips the fuel range I own a Lincoln navigator and I go frequently to Florida and I only fuel up twice on the trip.
Lest be honest and I think the government should see it this way. SUVS play a huge role in our life and our society because there are people that need them and for example me I love the way a full size SUV looks. Whether is pulling a trailer or tail gating at a big foot ball game or just cruising on our beautiful country roads. I was thinking that Bull Run should help this cause buy doing the next Bull Run rally at Detroit Michigan and help out American car builders GM FORD DODGE CHRYSLER ETC should stay where they are

My thing, is, if you want a fullsize SUV well you should be able to get a full size SUV. Keep them and let the consumers decide wich they want.

This is what makes me sick.
We are discussing what the GOVERNMENT should do.
What the hell happened to an open market? Why should we let the government tell us what we can and cannot have? Didn't we elect these idiots? Shouldn't they be accountable to US, instead of us being accountable to them?
Keep your crossovers and cars. They cannot do everything I need. One week I may pull my boat (what, 2k?) and the next I might pull a chunk of equipment (10k++).
I've seen pleanty of folks pull their 4 horse horsetrailers with Suburbans and Excursions. These are folks that need to seat the whole family, and still haul stuff. There is no replacement offered for them.
Beyond that, people should be able to drive whatever the hell they want. We don't need 500 horsepower sportscars any more than we need large SUVs. But by God, it's the peoples right to purchase and drive those vehicles if they choose. I wish these tree hugging lefties would be a little more "Pro Choice."

lets face it i love muscle cars and trucks (ive owned everything fron a 454 gmc excab with a sleeper to a big block roadrunner) but i think the reality wirh it is if u want big power the future is in biodiesel some love it some hate it but most cant afford big power and the gas bill. it looks to me like the way people felt about horses in the turn of the 1800 to 1900 or with steam there will always be a spot in our hearts for big blocks, hemis and wild motors but truth be told people buy cheap and bang 4 the buck biodiesel has it u want ur burbon diesel it! ask mdlucky. i watched my first dhra event on speed this week on speed, i was not only wowed by it but thought of the $$$ saved plus if we put our thought into it how many fryers are working in this country at one time? and if u wanna get mad at anyone for detroit and the big 3 dont blame anyone but ourselves and the unions. sorry to say it but look at it. i know ill piss alot of people off here but oh well its how i see it. when will america start truly maken stuff like they did in the 50s everyone wants an office not a machine. tell me im wrong if u want but back it up with facts please.

Ha - from an oilfield worker's view, we need full size SUV's. There HAS to be something that can be taken into areas that have never before been explored, and with enough room in it to be able to carry an immobilized person with all of the needed medical gear. Nixing the SUV's would hurt us a whole lot. I find it very hard to beleive that there are people out there who think that the SUV should be phased out - if you find any, tell them to come and be a jughound, surveyor, or driller in for an alberta oil company, and we'll make darn good and sure that they are the first to go shinnying up a rock face carrying 50-80 lbs extra on their back without a medic around to help them if something happens.
