MAZDASPEED North is set for this weekend
Michael Schlee
It is rare that professional race teams take time out of their busy schedule for a meet and greet session. But for those of you lucky enough to be in the Toronto area this weekend, you have a great opportunity to meet a few race teams.
The event is called ‘MAZDASPEED North’ and is taking place at Scarboro Mazda at 2124 Lawrence Avenue East in Scarborough. The event will be showcasing race teams, car clubs and automotive products in an effort to raise money for the Hospital for Sick Children. There will be a BBQ, DJ, prizes and displays throughout the day.
Dyson Racing from the American Le Mans series and AIM Autosports of the Star Mazda Series will be on site in preparation for their race the following weekend at Mosport. Of course there will also be a few local race teams and clubs on hand. I’ll even be there with the Autotrader.ca/Bullrun RX-8 so stop by and say hi. The event runs from 10AM-4PM.
Even for those not into Mazda’s or road racing, this is still a great opportunity to meet professional drivers and see their cars up close and personal. Plus it is all for charity.

Over 120 Mazda’s showed up. Race cars, custom cars, show cars and 40+ years of rotary powered vehicles were on hand. The event was Mazdaspeed North and it took place this past Sunday at Scarboro Mazda. The event was a huge success and rose over $2000 for The Hospital for Sick Children.
Mazda Cosmo 110S
Those who made it out got a glimpse of some very rare and special vehicles from Mazda’s past including a 1967 Mazda Cosmo 110S.
There were no fewer then 7 Mazda powered race cars that anyone could get up close and personal too. This included the Dyson Racing Team from the American Le Mans Series and the AIM Motorsports team from the Star Mazda Series; both of which are racing at Mosport next weekend. People were even able to sit in these cars to have thier photo taken.
Enthusiasts came out in droves for the event. There were over 70 rotary powered vehicles on hand and more then a dozen Roadsters. This was the first year for the event that should only become bigger in the years to come. So, enough talk about the vehicles. Browse the gallery below and check out the vehicles.
