Brian takes the new Camaro to the track at US route 13 drag strip in Delmar, DE
First pass: 13.66 @ 105.05 mph - 60' time 145 almost missed 3rd gear
Second pass: 14.14 @ 103.80 mph - 60' time 2.360 hard time finding 3rd gear
Third pass: (first round eliminations in street eliminator class) had the dial in at 13.25 when I went in to the staging lanes, then second guessed myself and then dialed a 13.45. Ran a 13.25 @ 107.83 mph - 60' time 2.032 Nailed 3rd gear this time. Lost first round of course but I was not running a race, just trying to figure the car out.
Never did a full burn out in the water. Pulled around water and did a dry burn out. (wheel hop bad) Tried leaving at 4500 rpm but caused lots of wheel hop when leaving the line. on the best pass I left at a lower rpm and feathered the clutch to get it rolling then hammer down. Hit third gear by just slamming it forward instead of trying to find the gate. It works!!
Test and tune this Wednesday. Going to try for a 12 anything 12.90......

Looks and sounds like you made one good purchase on bullrun 2009! That Camaro must be fun to take down the drag strip! What upgrades are in store for your newest toy?

Thanks Matthew. The car is great so far. Love to take you down the 1/4 mile in it.
Upgrades are in the thought process at this point
The GN is priority right now. Got a bit of disturbing news from Billy today about it. Will explain later when I know all the facts. Its nothing that can be fixed, but as usual, it will be about the money to get it done.

Trev, as far as I know at this point, the rs/ss with the 6 speed and the LS3 426 HP are supposed to do like a 12.90 1/4 mile. The link below gives some details about it. The actual HP rating is 426 not 422

Info off the web below. Theres lots more out there.
The 2010 Camaro SS has a 0-60mph time of 4.6 Seconds and a Quarter Mile time of 13.3 @ 108mph with the automatic, and 13.4 @ 108 with the manual transmission.
Not surprisingly, the V8-equipped Camaro SS delivers better numbers across the board. Chevy's Camaro SS outfitted with the 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 six-speed manual hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and runs a 13.4-second quarter-mile at 108 mph according to Oppenheiser. Strangely enough, Oppenheiser also claims that the automatic-equipped SS Camaro, which is rated at 400 hp, runs from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds. "We optimized the shift points," he said.
Both versions of the V8 Camaro SS pull a maximum 0.90 g on the skid pad. Four-piston Brembo brakes help stop the Camaro SS in 117 feet.
2010 Camaro quarter mile times have been dropping bit by bit as more members hit the track with their new cars. But, member speedy6963 just dropped the quarter mile times by a lot! His stock Camaro SS manual (LS3) just ran a 12.87 @ 109.08 at Cordova Dragway Park
V8 versions with the manual transmission feel every bit as robust as their 426-hp rating would suggest. Plenty of power is on tap, and passing maneuvers are possible with the transmission in as high as 5th gear. Clutch engagement takes a bit of getting used to, and the shifter's throws are a bit on the long side. An optional factory-installed short-throw shifter should take care of the latter issue, though. V8s with automatic transmission are also muscular, with quick-yet-smooth shifts.

I know Trev, and my 67 Tempest has been low 11s It is a bit dissapointing but it handles like a dream, its as comfortable as can be and gets19 to 23 mpg doing it.
I will have it doing mid 12s in no time without making any mods. Just a few tricks.
Already been 13.25 in mine friday night so Im good with that
i was hoping those new camaros were in the 12s. My 2000 trans am does a mid 13

Awsome job Brian.....so sorry I missed it. Someone had to be here to make sure the cops are doing their job right. Kevin told me you went up in the tower and spoke to him for a few mins...that was cool. Its really different sitting up there watching compared to down on the track and being right in the middle of everything. Well I'm gonna stop out there Wednesday night before I go to work so hopefully I'll get to see the car make at least 1 pass before I have to leave. Love ya lots take it easy...I'm getting ready to get off and go home and get a lil bit of sleep lol I'm off the next 2 days well have to work the other place 6a to 3p then back in here on wed and thurs for nights. The girls and I will be down at Delmar on Sunday for Super Chevy Sunday so I'll talk to you either wed or sun
I wonder if the GTO shifters will work in those.. Back when I got mine, 3rd gear, was impossible to hit, it was like rowing a damn boat.... My first pass on the stock shifter was 14.1... changed the shifter and went to a 13.7...
hmm. I am sure they will be making shifters soon.. if not already... I think we have the same tranny too right?

There is a Hurst Shifter available for this car, but hard to get right now. I know several people who ordered one with their new Camaro but it is not available yet.
I believe it is the same trans. Still looking up specs daa

Test and tune night at the local track. Car went a 13.08 at 108.3 mph first pass.
Really thought we would get in the 12s tonight but it was 91 degrees and humid as hell.
Cant wait for cool weather and it will be in the 12s.

Awesome Brian. Would you ever consider some DOT tires or even slicks for the car? You'd be mid-12's for sure by then.

Independent rear suspension, lots of wheel hop already, lots of potential to break !@#$ when that happens.
It will do 12s very soon on street tires, Guaranteed !! got some secrets up my sleeve.
