The shaker hood scoop faced toward the windshield, the reason for the "backwards" facing scoop was that the scoop would received air from the high pressure that build up at the base of the windshield, similar to Chevy's cowl induction.
It also kept outside elements out of the motor, and helped with aerodynamics !
Marketing lies from GM ~ you don't see funny cars with the hood scoops facing the windshield. Olds (under the front bumper) & Buick (holes in the hood) didn't go that route just Chevy and Pontiac.

Exhaust is have done, waiting now for the headers. Welded in some Subframe connectors while we were under the car too. Gears are here and ready to go in tomorrow.
