The 1967 Pontiac Tempest I own was selected as "Best Engineered Race Car"
My best friend Allan Austin, and his 5 year old son Nathan went along with me. What a great weekend we had and to have it topped off by receiving this award...... well it caused me to get choked up a bit to say the least.
I asked Allan along to drive the car this weekend because it has been a while since he has been able to get away and have some fun with the boys. He has alwas tried to be the best at what ever he does. Never gives up till he perfects the task at hand,
Unfortunatley, the car has its issues with the fuel injection set up in Ohio at the different elevation ? last year I had the car all to myself there and it did not do well then either. Guess I will keep it close to home from now on. least till I get it figured out.
Friday was test and tune session. The car did not perform well. First pass was a 13 something, then a 11.69. so we began working on the tune up in the ecm tryinng to figure out what the heck was going on. The car was running great at home prior to making the trip to Ohio.
Allan worked on the tune up all day and night Saturday. It rained all day so we had time to burn.
First pass today it left good then fell on it face at shift point. played with the tune more, more, and more, then we were asked to come to the front of the staging lanes for what we did not know ?
Well, I guess the car got the attention of more then a few people even though it did not perform well down the track cause thats why we got called up. What a honor!!!!

By the way, the Norwalk trip was another 20 hour round trip. So at this point, since July 10th combining the three trips (the rally, home from rally, round trip to Nashville, then round trip to Norwalk Ohio) I have accumulated something like 7,500 miles. Can I get some frequent highway driver miles ?
