Question -

If you do get onto Bullrun, What kinds of spare parts would you bring with you?

I am not really sure what I would bring - my cars' been wicked awesome to me so far... Obviously, I'd be bringing a coupla full size tires - that crappy little donut they give you with the vehicle is just retarded. Plus, an air filter, cuz I get the feeling that I wouldn't get 24 hours to let the oil dry on this one. Plus the usual arsenal of other various fluids and filters, and prolly a fuel pump, since chev doesn't seem to believe that something that is kept INSIDE THE GAS TANK needs to be durable. And of course, any spare fuses I would need, and a few extra relays, brake pads, octane booster, yada yada.

So, what about you?

Anything that is particularly prone to problems on your car would be a key part to have. Since we dont really get a heads up on a route, its hard to plan what towns will have a parts store. However it didnt seem like a lot of teams on season 2 ran into mechanical problems that were shown on air, with the exception of team solstice and evo. A lot of dependability issues are based on how much abuse the driver puts on the car. But at as the saying goes, "if its gonna happen, its gonna happen out there" -

My team always takes a full size spare so we wont be out of a lot of time, and also we run weird tire sizes (thanks ford) on the mustang that most places dont stock. I read somewhere that teams from last year were allowed a support vehicle with parts, etc.

Can I use my Typhoon as a suport vehicle? SO MANY parts on the Syclone are specific to the truck and not so readily available. Thankfully I have had it on a few long trips and most of the bugs / weak spots have been noted.

There was a posting about this awhile back. Pdub said that they had replacement parts for nearly everything for the Dart in their chase van (supposrt vehicle), except body panels. Literally everything from fluids to a replacement rear end....It was a huge list

U-joints, brakes pads, clutch and tranny stuff, hell, I'll bring a spare tranny, wheels, fluids TOOLS, air filters, air tank. bulbs, fuses, pretty much what I would bring to a track for weekend racing. Having a pick up is handy.

Lol, awesome!! Neveer thought about the tie rods and ball joints, spose if we are doing lots of maneovering, it prolly wouldn't be a bad idea - actually, I'm thinking that since GM has such a problem free charging system:Sp, prolly would be best to bring an altenator and starter too, plus the belts to go with it.

And jon91 - you could fit the bag o cheetos as well! Just strap the codriver to the roof!

I'm thowing a spare parts truck on a trailer and just pulling it behind me.

Should do.

There isn't a single part on the truck I wouldn't trust for another 100,000 miles. I would bring extra belts and hoses, fluid, and filters.. But I don't think I would need many parts.

Here is the best advice you can get about what to bring with you.

Bring a spare of EVERYTHING and as many tools as you can fit in your trunk.

That about covers it.

HEY!!! You're Back!! Good to see ya!

I kinda got it good - after talking to dad - thinking maybe just bring the rare stuff, cuz really, I have a chev car with a 3800 engine - only things hard to find for it should be on the supercharger and rims.

I will have it pretty easy. the wagon is built on the same frame as everyother gm car of that era so spare parts are easy to find and im running a standard 350 so parts are plentiful as long as the government doesnt crush all my parts cars. but i already have plans to bring spare battery, alternator, tires, fuel can, tool box, lights, oil filters, and all available fluids

Havent had any issues w/ charging and fuel systems, actually, the only thing Ive killed on her so far is the trans (started slipping @ 40k finally died @ 80k) but that first 40k was ALOT of abuse, like worse than bullrun abuse LOL...

If you ever need your trans done check out Triple Edge....Might be a good investment if you get the call from Bullrun LOL

Well, so far, she's only had rush hour abuse, haven't had any problems from the trans yet. Advise taken though - only had my Monte since 50000 kms!
