We are starting to set up some 1/8 miles around here, not many though. Like Mopar Rob are 1/4 mile tracks are about an hour, hour and a half from me. But we do the 100ft all summer.

I used to have the very same question in my mind....until I went to an ADRL race here in Houston. It was so much better than the 1/4 mile racing at the O'Reilly Nationals (NHRA). Just because it's only 1/8 mile, don't think that those racers are pussies!
Current record:
3.666 secs: Jason Scruggs (05/22/09) 207.43 mph: Jason Scruggs (05/22/09)
the closest track is 1mile from the house and its 1/8th mile but me and Jenni drive 1hour and20min away to go to a good 1/4mile track. if you dont take the time to go to a real drag track then your just a fack ass dragracer...1/8 mile...hahaha if i want to do 90mph ill go to the highway... i want something faster damn 1/8mile pussies
I do. Closest 1/4 is about an hour away.
Having 2.82 gears doesn't really do the Charger justice in the 1/8th, but,
Well, I had the chance to go see a pro mod show at South Georgia Motorssports Park for free. Found out it was gonna be an 1/8th mile show, I stayed home. That sad part about it is SGMP is a full 1320 concrete strip. The pros love the place for testing (prior to this year anyway, no testing). About all they run there is 1/8th. What a waste of a great track. No, I don't run 1/8th mile.
Hmmm... from memory I think my best 1/8 was very low 8... want to say 8.1 around 86mph. Now I wanna dig up my old time slips, haven't run it in nearly 3 years.
And mods are for wimps who don't have faith in their car or driving skills.
Stock is for old ladies who dont know how to unlatch there hoods or for people who like being the same as everybody else. Dont be the person who buys a stock car and the first place they go is to put it in a car show to show off there stock car. Mods are like art if you Mod it the way you like it it is an expression of what you are... so the question is... are you stock or are you original?
As for being stock or doing mods, how can someone go buy a ride, not talkin' "plain jane", I'm talkin' about SS. GT, SRT, TRD, AMG, DAYTONA R/T, GTS, etc... something better than average. Here you have this awesome ride and what's the first thing some people go do, start doing mods to it.
AND why do they do mods right off the bat? To go faster, corner better, stop quicker, launch harder, flashier lights, to out do............. WHAT, stock? How would you know far you've come with moddin', if you never knew where you started from with stock? I mean, what are you in a rush for? Are you making up for something lacking !?!
When I do get to the point of doing mods to the Charger, I will be able to appreciate them more, because I'll know what the Charger was capable of fully stock! Which I'm still finding out !
18 years later and my Syclone is still mostly stock. It's been well documented what stock performance is and the tiny mods that have been done to my truck happened before I gained ownership. Some I have returned to stock but I have to admit, its time for me to up the ante a bit and shoot for some 1/4 times in single digits... although I'll settle for something in the 10's before 2011 rolls around.
closest 1/4 miles track is over an hour from my house, but the 1/8th is only 10.2 miles from my driveway to the gates. Best time in the 1/8th is mid 7's, at 95mph, on a drag radial, spinning through 1st and 2nd

But, then again, to each their own.
I just hate sitting in a stock car I might as well be cloned and go work in my cubical. I like expresion on ones self and find when people do that they are creative, but thats just my opinion.
As for lacking something... ask you mom if im lacking something!!!
I am not saying that sublime chargers arnt hard to come by but I am saying it is stock and some people like that but it isnt my bag. I would rather not pull up to a light and see the exact same car pull up to me.
In my head when you stop improving something you become board with it (I have the never happy with it problem).
And I don't know if you have been around that long? but I don't quite until im ahead... (thats what makes me a good driver)
I think you got lost along the the way somewhere viper. Do you have a clue about me and stock?
You seem to have this impression that I bought my car for some daily transportation and not gonna do a thing to it.
If jumpin' on the mod bandwagon is your thing, do it. That's the beauty of owning your own car, it's your's to do what you want with it and other's opinions really don't matter.
Driveline wise, I am still stock. Why do I think having my HEMI still stock is cool, having guys who have gone out and spent $3000.00 + on engine mods, and I still beat them in a drag race.
Now, I'm sure you don't waste your time with an 1/8 mile drag strip, but for me, when I started racing the Charger, that's what San Diego had available. I made a goal of when I was able to break 9.0 sec, I would start to do mods. I've had mine 4000 pound HEMI to 9.1. Having street tires on the Charger is the only thing holding me back.
Are you now shocked to realize, my car will not be staying stock? Go to my Page 4 on cardomain for what I have done and plan to do.
As for the " Doesn't work on me, mine is too" , your mom has passed away and you still said "ask your mom if I have anything lacking" WOW
I do. Closest 1/4 is about an hour away.
Having 2.82 gears doesn't really do the Charger justice in the 1/8th, but,
it's still fun to beat guys that are modified!

I made four 1/8th. mile passes in the New Camaro in Mobile Alabama on the Bullrun rally. No time tickets though. best time was a 8.20 I think.
Going to Delaware International Speedway tomorrow for a test and tune session, then Friday for regular races.
