One thing in the world of bodyshops that really bothers me is greed. And yes I am including the shop the were I work as well. Each shop will do an estimate and try to beat the other shop. Of course that always upset the other shops that didn't get the job causing the other jobs to speak ill of the winning shop. But it is worse then that. One shop will bid a job and try to make a booking for the following sept or what have you, A year down the road anyway. the other shop will under bid and have them booked in the next month. There should be no problem there. If you have enough work to book a year in advance why do you have a problem with other shop taking the job???????? Today at my shop a customer came in. we underbid the last shop by a fraction. My boss said bring it in in 2 weeks. The customer said, oh well this other shop will do it starting monday. So my boss figured he would pile it on to my already large stack of jobs that afternoon. He didnt want to lose the job that we didnt need to another shop. It is all greed. last week I was told that I could take the rest of the montrh off and still expect a full paycheck. That means we have made that much money and there is that much left after paying the bills. So why not let the other shop, who I know needs the work more then us. If we all are depending on the one job we are all in a lot of trouble. But we arent. So don't be so greedy. There is enough work to go around.
