I have to ask and hope someone can shed some light for me. What is it with these older cars and HUGE rims. I see these cars, now dubbed "donks, boxes and bubbles" with body lifts and extreme paint jobs sporting ads for products like skittles, gatorade and pepto. Seriously, there is a green 85 caprice with skttles logos allover it. Not to mention the other day as a hot pink car rolled past me sporting Pepto Bismol all over it. A a blue "bubble" with 30" rims tagged with gatorade on it and a bottle of blue gatorade hanging from the rear bumper. Are these guys getting corporate money for advertising or is it just a fad? Others i have seen are M&M's, Frosted Flakes, and sugar smacks. If these guys are getting paid(and its enough money) I'm about willing to paint the Beast turd brown and label it "Count Chocula". Someone explain it to me please.
What is it with these cars

I hear ya bro, but from what I know its just a fad, and they paint them that way for car shows and magazine shoots. I saw a set of 30" wheels on a chevy caprice last week..its at a point of when will it end..lol

You know, I have no clue. I remember watching soemthing on speed about them. I don treally remember the deal. But it's more than just a fad. Well what ever makes you happy. It may not be my thing. But I have no right to knock what others think a cool.

I agree. i am not knocking on them i was curious as to what the motive was. i t is entertaining to look at them. And they do turn a head.
oooohhhhhh man - so know what you mean - rims so big that you can't see the car for the blinding ugly coming offa the rims. The worst is the Hummers with huge rims and low profile tires. GAK - don't EVEN get me started on that!

I think it's quite stupid! The bigger they get the more dangerous the car gets. It's like resorting back to the stagecoach, that's what they remind me of, stagecoaches. WTF!
I agree it cant be safe. i saw one with 28" rims stuffed in so tight the car could barely turn.
Haha! I saw a certain show on speed, where a rapper takes someone' vehicle and "customizes" it by putting ugly wheels on it, then painting it awful colours, and then installs gaming, audio and video systems that have about as much practicality as the ugly wheels. I shudder and think to myself, "that poor little bugger better have an altenator that could power most of Toronto, and a better half that doesn't care about the car".

I saw a donked 96 Caprice off an exit ramp near me that the lf wheel FLEW off of. It was laying like 100 yards away, and the car had the left rear hangin in the air. They look funny with all 4 wheels, but that one looked really funny.

Oh my god! That is absolutely absurd!
We started seeing that crap around 02 or 3 in South Georgia. Funny thing about it was they were all ex cop cars and the folks driving them were all gangsta's. Guess they felt more at home in a cop car, or possibly they wanted to check out the front seat for a change. We had Skittles, UPS, Snickers, etc. Guess they wanted to be NASCAR super fans. Not really sure why.
Oh my dear goodness... I can't understand it - cept for the four door hemorrhoid, those would actually be pretty sharp looking cars in the right hands...

I dont think i have seen one of these even on pimp my ride. Maybe because Mike would need a ladder to get in it, from underneath kinda like a monster truck.

I wish that would happen more often. Those cars are an embarrasment.
