I am a newbie here and want to take this space to introduce myself, my co-driver, and our Team....... Gut Gehangt. we both love cars, can party like rockstars, and have no idea how to speak German.
Gut Gehangt = Well-Hung
Its true...we share the same last name and a passion for cars. The Red Headed Beast may be my brother (from the same mother), but the blood that runs through his veins are from a foreign body that can only be described as "bizzare" - as a result, much of his logic is skewed..abnormal of sorts...I guess to sum it up, the Red Headed Beast is the Anti-Norm.
When he suggested our team name, Well Hung, I tried to explain to him that its not about us - its about a race - a race that removes the trivial details of life, shreds the layers of society, melts away the rules of humanity, and creates an even and objective world where the only remnants of reality that exist is the illusion time. It didnt matter if we were well hung - yes, we are genetic feaks, who are reminded of our demonic plague on a daily basis - but our baggage is a condition to be discussed in the bedroom, not on the roads of our great nation. And who cared about our size anyway?
It was then that the Red Headed Beast opened his mouth and spoke logically for the first time in some 30 odd years I've kown him...."i aint talkin 'bout us boy..." he said in his Texas slang. "I'm talkin' about our ride." He was right. It made sense.....he wasnt airing our dirtly little secret to the world - he was simply conveying the truth and beauty of a collaboration between german engineering and a legendary racing heritage from the old country - the product known by the world as a MB SLR McLaren roadster - our vehicle of 2nd choice for bullrun 2009.
The car is an animal, and even though I usually disagree with my anti-norm brother, the fact remains the he is right - the SLR is well-hung. Afterall, it is pumping out a whopping 626 horsepower and 575lbs of torque in a slender and light package that barely tips the scales at 3700 lbs (alright...maybe slender and light are not the right words) - but how can you argue with its intent? Fine, the front facia is dated, the radio is your base model C class tape deck, and the steering wheel is right off the SL, circa 2003. But at 200 MPHs, your likley more focused on the pack of cars in your rearview, than the idea that the car is depreciating in value at a faster rate than the fuel your burning maintaining your speed. Well-Hung is absolutely what this car is - and with its German hertitage, our cheeky obnoxious humor, and the ant-norm of my bro, the Red Headed Beast, the AMG rocket solidified our search for a team name: we are Team: Well-Hung.
Unfortunately, only a jackass would stamp Well Hung across their car, especially while driving thourgh certain unmentioned states (yes...they all begin with "west"). So we needed a clever angle, and thats when it came to me - I was showing off the SLR's goods when the sun relfected off the personalized signature of Hanz Webber-Smidt, the Bavarian who alledgedly assembled my engine (if you believe that nonsense) before the car was shipped to the US for its demise. His personalized name plate is stamped on the engine as the proud and successful acheivement that the people of the US typically refer to as "doing your job". I mean c'mon, imagine engraving your name on a special silver comemorotive plaque everytime you completed something at work? Its rediculous. But in this case it made more sense than the obvious - the German was speaking to me...literally....and thats when it happened - we will be well-hung in german. Wait...that didnt sound right. In any event, translating well-hung into a foreign laguage was more complicated than originally thought, but lucky for us, Germany is the home of the weinersnitcel; and within google search, the team of Get Gehangt was born. And this is our simple story that defines our intent.....
at this point, i'll let this quick intro act as fodder for the real face to face next week. I look forward to an experience unlike any other. We are team get gehangt. And we will see you next week.
Now....if only I knew how to apply these decals....
Zack......and the red headed beast.

Nice! Have fun on Bullrun 2009! Do you have any pictures of the SLR? You might want to get a graphics person to put on the decals. Or maybe you could contact bullrun about it, have one of their people put on the decals in NYC.
