yea, Frenchie some of us have kids that wear us out during the day.   It has been kind of dead, a nice update email would brighten things up I think.

We should all e-mail info@bullrun.com and ask for an update! Thay did say in the last update "much more info to come shortly!"

There's less than 20 days until the rally so there has to be an update soon! As for updates regarding the reality show, they may have some news, but I wouldn't count on it until the real rally (the money maker) is over.

I wonder, which rally (REAL or REALITY) earns Bullrun LLC. more money. How much do you think SPEED pays to air the programme? For the real rally, each team pays $20K to get in. Half of that probably goes towards funding the rally. This year there's 85 teams, so $85K (roughly speaking). So which Bullrun earns more money?

I would guess that the Bullrun show makes more money. Advertising pays bank -- I'd bet for a 30sec to 1min spot during every episode, Black Magic would pay somewhere between 500k and 1MM dollars, and really probably more than that. And that's just the one sponsor -- any other company that gets into the action would likely have to pay similarly. So that, versus the relatively paltry 85k -- seems like the reality show is the hands down winner (assuming I'm anywhere close to the right numbers, but I'd bet I'm not far off...)

Well they do have sponsors for the rally as well. Air time on popular shows is very expensive, I mean look at what they pay for the superbowl ad space. Depends how popular BR really is. Their expenses are probably pretty high too. Rental of drag strips and other locations for challenges, explosives, light bulbs, flag girls.... (yes I include them in the rental agreement lol)

Waaaaaaahhh, no one is on line all night long like I am!  Just kiddin french kiss:<)  But seriously, the members have seemed to drop off with the replies lately.  It is the summer and people are just out livin a little I guess.  Talkin about the show, I agree, I think the show pulls in much more cash than the actual run.  And the flag girls are probably payed with sun tan lotion, teeth whitening products and maybe a dildo.  Good for them.

Lol it's too hot as balls to be living it up outside here.

If that's what the Flag girls are gettng paid with then sign me up.

 

Sun tan lotion: Check. I have really fair skin and tend to burn in the sun and pretty much don't tan.

Teeth Whitening: Check. Doesn't hurt to have it. I guess that's why you never see them smile. The blinding light of white teeth could be distracting to the drivers.

Dildo: Check. What woman doesn't want one?

C'mon, it's not too hot.  Here in Houston it was only 99 with 85% humidity today.   Women really do love those dildos don't they?  Why did you end up in New Mexico anyway frenchie?

Okay time for a little bit of history I guess. I was born and raised in Grenoble, France until the age of 17. Then in Aug of 99 my parents moved to NM and so being a minor I tagged along. My dad was offered a job here since he already knew people who worked with the university and air force. I know not super exciting.

Exciting for you with the big move but I guess it sucked leaving all your friends.  I would have hated that, Most of my friends are still in Philly and that sucks.  Do you still have a crazy accent?

It was a pretty good culture shock to say the least. I was so used to being able to walk to or take public transport to places, and then I moved here where you absolutely need  a car. Sucked. Yeah I had to start from scratch with friends, and it takes me a long time to get to know people. So my senior year of high school, which I finished here, was very lonely.

There's a clear difference between how French people interact and how Americans interact. French people tend to be very reserved and stand-offish when they first meet you, and then they get to know you and warm up. Americans tend to be very out-going and friendly  when you first meet them, but I've found that that's where it stops unless they feel like befriending you. I don't know, maybe it's what the locals do but I can understand how foreigners can take it as being flaky. I think I've scared people off a few times because when I don't like someone or don't care to really make their acquaintance, I don't waste my time with superficial pleasantries lol.

There's still traces of an accent when I say certain words, but for the most part, I speak like what I hear. When I'm around my parents however, that's a different story. They are Brits, so the Brit comes out.

Yeah, I am usually away on the weekends, but I am back in the week days.

Yeah suddenly there's a bunch of people logged in lol.

Frenchie, sorry to hear about the high school thing, I kinda went through about 5 percent of what you dealt with.  Transfered into a new h.s. in my junior year and knew 2 people there.  But I did end up meeting my present business partner there though.  As for flakes, I just think alot of flakey people fill this country and many others too.  I guess I am more like a french person when meeting new people, it takes me a while to trust someone new.  I don't give everybody the benefit of the doubt.  People still say I have the philly accent down here but it only shows up when I am drinking alot.

lol that seems to be what happens with everyone who had an accent. They start drinking and then it comes back.

I'm not usually on when I'm drunk........ and since it's summer... that's roughly 90% of the time... 

Tomcat, you a teacher?  You got off all summer to drink, man I wish I could drink all summer. That would be sweet! lol.

Some of my friends back in Florida were teachers and the minute school was out they were going to dives to see punk bands and having parties until dawn the next day.

Nah... I'm a college student. I took this summer off. Ohhhhhh yeeaaaaahhhhhhhhh

Dammit!  Stupid 12 month a year job.

Nothing forcing you to walk at graduation. I didn't do it for my BA but I did for my MA, bigger deal. We all felt and looked like harry potter.

I do remember the parties.  I still have a scar on my knee from one of those.  Good Times.  It's hard to draw the line between party and learning.

ha, my problem was, my tech school didn't let you have a life, so when I started to party really hard, they gave me the boot.  Still don't know how they found out about it though...

Stay in College as long as you can! Stay there until you have had enough of hot women and parties are ready for the world where average women somehow become hot and a party becomes a night where more then one of your favorite TV shows are on and you have a bag of Chips.

I hear ya. My husband started when he was 13. Dropped out. after a year and a half to have a normal "high school experience".  Started to party and "other" in high school. Had to use his college units to graduate. Now 30, he has 2 classes left. So I guess he's on the 17 year plan. He's talking about a masters...  ...should take him into his golden years.
