We've all watched the show right?   So does horsepower really make much difference in the big picture?

Team Avi took second place w/ a heavy truck and maybe 325hp.    Seems to me that navigation skill,  fuel/time management, and overall driver skill have a lot more to do w/ it.   What do you peeps think?

I had an old rancher that hauls bulls all over the pacific northwest tell me something once.

He said: "You might never know if you have too much horsepower, but you'll know right away if you have too little."

That's been my philosophy since.

The current format make it more about NOT sucking in a challenge then about the car. The drivers ability to be cool under pressure or lack there of are what matters most.

Freaking hilarious, and totally true. However, I think it really depends on what kinds of challenges you have to do -- the road leg parts will rarely need 750 horsepower, but it sure can come in handy in a sprint challenge.

Well, Racertci has a good point there too -- even if you have more hp than the next guy, if you suck in the challenge you're gone.

Agreed - take Lexus - their nav skills were second to none - almost - and the car they were driving coulda chewed up that challenge and spit it back out, but because they didn't quite have the drifting experience, they lost out. Seems to me that you need both in the right mix!

Lexus missed a target. Never hit it in 2 attemps....that is called a choke.

Well I guess it's a moot question.   I just bought a new Vortech charger kit.   So 355 horses here I come.

Lexus just tailed Elvis and Steve. They got on someones butt and road it in.  Then they didn't  drive hard when it counted the most getting them sent home. They played a spotless game up to that point.

I believe it's the long distance runner that wins the show. Stay in the pack and don't piss off the others too early in the game. They use that sprinting power only when needed.
