Team Grand National gets some local press.
Thu, 05/21/2009 - 5:23pm
Thought I would share this news paper article with you all. A local reporter heard about Team Grand Nationals involvement in the rally this year and wrote this up.
As usual, some of the information is not quite accurate though. But all in all, its a pretty nice write up.
You will need adobe acrobat to read it. It is a PDF file

Congrats guys, that's cool as !@#$. I'm trying to figure out how to come up with the cash to enter, but it might not happen this year for me. I still don't believe they don't at least give out some kind of trophy.
Thanks, If they give out anything I'll be sure to let you know when I get it in my hands. :) but I know for sure there are no prizes for the winner.

Good Job Brian. Nice to see you get some press.
You know we are all cheering for you guys!
As far as I know there are only 2 two teams in the rally (other then Shaun) that stop in the forum and you are here more then most.

Thanks Tony, Were gonna need all the cheering we can get to get through this thing. Kinda nerve racking ya know. I guess the other Bullrunners will show up here as it gets closer.
Sounds like the run from NYC to OC is coming along pretty good. Best of luck with it.

I just found the following information out from Matthew, fellow forum member.
Quoting Matthew below:
"there are trophies on the Bullrun rally; Navigator awards (basically a way of recognizing first, second and third place without officially declaring Bullrun as a race, hence the name :navigator award". There's the spirit award, best car award and various other awards given out at the end of the week during the awards ceremony."
I learn something new everyday about the rally.....

I wonder if my 94 Buick Regal custom coupe 3800 2 door could take that Grand National of yours;>]
WELL, I had a 89 T-Type Lesabre 3800 (my first NEW car) and it did not have enough to take out the Grand National then so Im pretty sure yours wont get the job done either. That is unless youve done a whole lot of work to it ?
Anytime youre ready to give it a try just let me know :)

Lol! I bought it from a lady who drove it to church every Sunday (my mom) as a back-up car, I know it has no chance against the Grand. My buddy had one for a little while, they are fast. What did they used to say about them, oh yeah, the fastest moving living room on the road.
Was'nt it rumored back in the day that those grand nationals would blow the engines alot because of the turbo system?

Yea, I know the 84 didnt possibly stand a chance, just calling your bluff on that one he he, it worked!!
The only problem I remember they had back then was they tended to blow head gaskets. But Im eliminating posibility of that happening next week. Head Gaskets, new turbo, and lots of other prevenative maintenance. Its got just under 21 K on the odometer, but Im not taking any chances.
The bottom end of these engines are almost bullit proof. Basically the same block as the 3800s. run for ever as long as you maintain them. I sold My 89 T-Type Lesabre with 160K on the clock and last I heard it had over 300K on it and it has never been apart internally, heads, or otherwise.
Best engine GM ever built with something like 12 million produced.
