That sucks.  Mostly not even about the money involved, it's the effort and time you put into it.  A buddy of mine has been building a Nissan mini for the last few months.  Way too much work into those deals to just wad it up causa some nimrod.

Damn right. I already have another Nissan VG30 in the garage that I'm building for boost, so no problems on a new engine. Going to tube frame it (at least the front half) and all. I'll have to make new fenders, the ones that were on it were handmade. Luckily, I'm the one that made them in the first place, so I know how. New bumper won't be a problem, I'm sure I can find a 2002 model year Pathfinder in a junkyard somewhere or just get the parts from Nissan again. Plenty of rusty barbedwire at my GF's parents ranch, so a new grill is easy enough. Hood, again, easy. The hard part is just going to be convincing my insurance company that the truckis worth it. Good thing I have AAA.

As for the kid that pulled out in front of me, he was very messed up over it. He was more worried about my truck than his car, and I overheard him talking to his mother about it, and I believe he wasn't just being an idiot. The direction I was headed, I was coming out of the sun, and I'm pretty sure he was honest about not being able to see me coming. However, he should have been able to hear me lol.

I'm alot more stiff and sore than I was last night, whole left side hurts like hell, shoulder is swollen up.

Today's agenda, pick up copy of police report, hit up AAA office, and get this bitch started on the road to recovery.

Just got off phone with AAA. They said they'll do everything they can to keep it from being a total loss. I have the same adjuster as last time, he was awesome and he already knows all about my truck and how custom it is etc. They're getting me a rental today, and getting the ball rolling on resurrecting Hades again

K here's an update for those of you who have been asking me...

Inspector came by, checked it out, and is doing what he can to keep it from being a total loss. He's fighting to get me every cent he can for it, being a car guy himself etc he understood the amount of time, work, blood, etc that has been put into this thing. I find out Tuesday what I can get to work with money-wise from Progressive (the other guy's insurance company) - If I don't like thier estimate/offer, I can have my Insurance (AAA) give me a 2nd opinion.

Other than that, I got to start tearing into it. Removed the bumper, bumper core, hood, fenders, cowl, condenser, headlights, and was about to start on the radiator & fan when the rain started up and I had to throw a tarp on it and quit for the day. It really doesn't look as bad underneath as I thought it might. The core support and right inner fender support are the worst of it, noticed today that the inner fender ripped some chunks out of the tire on that side, gonna have to replace that too. Tomorrow morning I plan on getting the radiator and fan out, and cranking over the engine to see if it will still run. Fingers crossed!

Well, got the radiator and fan out this morning, tried to crank it over and got nothing but a click. so I guess it's new engine time.

Awwww... it's just a battery. Put a couplemore on it for more juice... it'll start.

I put my booster on it (200amp start booster) and got the same results.

Threw a fit, didn't think further until today. Gonna go out and see if I can turn the engine by hand (breaker bar on the crank)

I don't think it's siezed - it shut off right on impact, and no oil leaked out. I lost all the coolant and A/C refrigerant, but after it shut off. I was thinking it'd start right back up once I got the bent fan and radiator out of the way, nothing contacted the timing case. I think the water pump is probably trashed judsging by the way the fan's shaft was bent (it mounts to the water pump pulley) but nothing hit the engine itself, so I figured it was still good. I dunno, maybe it did get hit... things do move back outwards a bit from where they were at the highest point of impact.

I have another engine, I was just hoping to get to rebuild it with forged internals, do some P/P work on the heads, and boost it before it went in. And it'd be nice not to have to pull the %&*$#@! thing.

Good news - The engine turns over by hand. Makes a sick grinding noise when I do it tho. =-/

Probably the water pump. It seems to have been pushed back by the fan, the belt for it is rubbing on the timing cover. Hopefully it didn't crack the block.

that would be sick. I currently have a spare VG30E that I was building tho. I think I'd have to knock my firewall back about 4 or 5" to fit a RB26DETT in there. But then, the AWD drivetrain too.... HMMM....
