2007: Montreal to Key West

2007 was another amazing Bullrun collection of the superb, the weird and of course the wonderful...

Spirit of Bullrun Award - Team CBGB - Richard Rawlins and Dennis Collins, our two favourite Texans put in another virtuoso performance. At the start line in Montreal the took a bet from Mr Angry to see if they could beat the long standing New York to Los Angeles record....and Jared Riecke for $50,000... The promptly took on the challenge and drove 31 hours non stop to beat the old Cannonball record in Los Angeles. They shipped their car to Savannah, Georgia to rejoin the Bullrun and got on an aeroplane to fly back and joing the rally...Did we mention they also put their car on a DC6 plane from Miami to fly it to Key West too...??

BOM - Bullrun Order of Merit - British Idiots - Paul Waters and Shawn Taylor. They couldn't get their fully WRC Renault car into Canada so they rented a 10 ton U-Haul truck for the start of the rally. Once over the border they continued in the Renault until they broke down. What next? They hired a Crosffire each (full liability coverage) and drove them into the ground..

BOM - Bullrun Order of Merit - Oh Canada!. Our Candian husband and and wife duo, Kristine and Kevin Andrews are amongst the nicest two people you will meet and they know how to rally. Their full rally prepped Porsche 928 managed to catch fire on the freeway so they did what anyone who owns an investment bank would do in those circumstances - have your staff deliver you the Ferrari..brilliant.

JVC Navigator Award.

1st Place - Claus Ettensberger, Team CEC. In his Novotech Porsche Cayenne Claus' rally plan was nothing short of rally blitzkreig..Der Kaiser as he is referred to also swapped his car out on the final leg for a powerboat (das boot..) for the final leg into Key West.

2nd Place - Team Riecke, Jared Riecke and Byron Burkhardt, Mercedes 600 Rentech. After a solid 3rd place performance in '06 these two Bayou boys are fast becoming everyones favourites. There is nothing they won't do to gain one upmanship in Bullrun. Rent a DC6 and fly a plane, no problem. Have a $50,000 bet (and pay it..), no problem. Pay large amounts of money to the po-po, no problem. Also known as Riecke Bobby...

3rd Place - Team Audi, Adam Levinson and Wije. Driving their stealth Audi RS4 these 'nubees' to the rally in 07 from New York did rather well and were on their game all week. They do not like waiting for a route card...

CEC Slickest Wheels Award.

Team Darkcyd Racing - Peter Kolb and Bulent Akaya - Mercedes CLK DTM. Two great guys hailing from Germany and Turkey respectively show the international falvour of Bullrun. We're not even sure if their car was street legal but we all loved it anyway!

Shelby Performance Award.

Team Twins - Nicholas and Annabelle Frankl, Corvette Z06. The only thing that makes Nick Frankl move quicker than being on a track is asking him to buy you a drink..once again another fine perfoamnce from Messrs Frankl..

Lotus Performance Award

Team 13, Michael Schwab and Jason Weiss, Ferrari 430. The 'Schwabster' was a 'nubee' to Bullrun but the guy can drive as much as his co-pilot can party...hard and long. Great track performance and was only hampered en-route by 3 flat tires...our advice, keep off the hard shoulder.

2006: New York to Los Angeles

The guy (or gal) who most encapsulates the spirit of the whole event - attitude, style, driving. The ’Spirit of Bullrun’ Award, Team L4YUK -Paul ’Matador’ Waters and ’Handsome’ Pete ’Spaceman’ Dingle. The boys from the UK, shipped their very rare 340R Lotus from the UK, got it out of customs just in time, and drove in every weather condition imaginable without a roof..never, ever complained.

Patron Style Award

For those individuals who were always sent to bed early as kids and now just don’t know when to say ’no’..The ’Style Award’ - Uncle Frank, the Legend and the Chaos boys, Abi, Omar and Tarun. They brought a 45’ tour bus, two cars and four lades with them.... always the life and soul of the party. Only hiccup.... that strip search of Uncle Frank by the PD..now where’s that cushion to sit on..?

Try Hard Award

The ’Try Hard Award’ - Rory Camangian. Dressed like a matador all week..though most thought he was a 200 pound mouse and part of Team Disney.. However, as part of Team Los Matadors, he had Pamplona style runners in front of his car in Times Square.. Legendary! One of the great all time road-trip blog writers with partner Emil Rensing.

Andretti Magnaflow Hot 1/4 Mile Award

The Magnaflow ’Hot 1/4’ Award - for the quickest time over the 1/4 mile at Great Bend, Kansas. The winners, Team Chris, newcomers again to Bullrun. Christian Briggs and Christopher Roundtree in the quick as hell Porsche.

2005: The Wild West Run

The Bullrun annual awards ceremony honors the sublime to the ridiculous...check out the media galleries also to get a taste of the action.

Spirit of the Bullrun Award

Team Gas Monkey - As if driving a Model A Ford Hot Rod wasn't enough, Richard Rawlins bribed a passing chopper at the Bonneville Salt Flats to take him to Reno..Richard got permission en route to land the chopper on a hotel roof and ran down the main street in Reno to the finish line of the checkpoint for first place that day...legend.

'Best Navigator' Award

1st: Team Britannia - Newcomers to the rally and driving an Aston Martin DB9, Marek Harrison and Nigel Lord were on point every day, no one even came close to their navigational expertise.

2nd: Team Texas - Ferrari 550 Maranello, Dennis Collins and James Collins. DC has done more rallies than you average Texan has drunk cans of Miller, ok maybe not but a legendary competitor. His brother gets a special mention too for managing to being arrested in Mexico one night during the rally, even though the rally didn't go to Mexico....

3rd: Team Polizei - Mercedes S Class, Alex Roy and Alli Joseph. What can you say about Alex (that he hasn't already told you himself)? A truly great competitor and raconteur, just remember to divide everything he says by about 1,000..and don't leave your girlfriend with him alone.

Mattel Hot Wheels Award — Lamborghini Murcielago, Hayden Christensen - special mention to Hayden also for his 180 mph spin out on the Salt Flats when he was drag racing Rodman!

Slickest Wheels Award — Lamborghini Gallardo, Dennis Rodman - the only man we know who drives a Gallardo with his face painted on the car and complains about too much attention from the po-po and doesn't pay for his gas...A great sport.

Bullrun 2004: LA - Miami

Best Car Award– Jessie Rodriguez
Jessie bought a brand new 2003 Lamborghini Murcialago just for the Bullrun rally. He raced his Lambo against Rocky Stewart’s Thunderbird Aero L39 Fighterjet. He lost the race obviously, but he tried. Jessie lent his Lambo to Alex Roy at the Sebring International Raceway. When he gave it to Alex it was in once piece, but when it got returned to him, the whole front of the car had been bashed in. The Lamborghini had only been on the road for 8 days before it made friends with the concrete barriers at Sebring.

Chaos Award – Omar Sherif and Tarun Mahatri
This dynamic (and brave) duo entertained the Bullrunners with a variety of tricks including... ddoughnuts mostly. Omar bit his tires into the pavement on top of Hoover Dam, the Las Vegas strip, and even Bourbon street. Then, Tarun decided to outdo Omar by jumping from his Porsche 911 Turbo to a Bentley Azure on the freeway at 60mph! These guys have no fear what-so-ever!

Spirit of the Bullrun Award – Alex Roy and Nicholas Frankl
Team Polizei showed the true spirit of the rally by showing up at the start line dressed like German police officers and a car livered with the word “Polizei” all over it. Alex and Nick were one of the strongest teams on the rally and weren’t afraid to speed on ahead of the pack. Unfortunatly in Arizona, Alex got arrested and had to be busted out of jail by Teammate Frankl. Nicholas Frankl also beat a helicopter in a drag race at the Pahrump race track in Nevada. Team Polizei knew exactly what rallying is all about! Driving hard and partying harder!

Bullrun 2004 Style Award – David Hurly
Dave started out the rally with teammate Russell Mitchell. This duo from Britain wanted to do the Bullrun on their custom bikes hand-built by Exile Choppers in the UK. Early on in the rally, Russell broke the belt on his bike and was forced to stay behind to repair it. Meanwhile Dave soldiered on through torrential downpours and the blazing-hot desert heat. By the end of the rally he was walking different because his bike had no suspension. Dave, you did the Bullrun in style!

Always First Award – Richard Rawlings, Sue Rawlings, Michael Jackson and Tim West
From the beginning RIchard and Sue Rawlings were determined to win every stage of the rally. Their only concern was to make sure that their main rivals; Team Polizei, stayed behind them at all costs. Michael Jackson and TIm West followed closely behind Rawlings' Chevy Avalanche in their Porsche 911 and together they crossed the finish line each leg well ahead of the pack.
